We are in the process of creating a team of artificial assistants. They can hear, speak, read written language, learn new tasks and perform requested tasks when requested or when scheduled. Like human virtual assistants each has specific skills suited for their specific job functions. Unlike human or robot virtual assistants, our artificial assistants may only exist in the computer or cloud like Amazon’s Alexa.
Our Artificial Assistants are an outgrowth of our work on/with Amy, a chatbot that grew out of work with Service and Software Agents. Amy 1.0 and Amy 2.0 was a personal assistant that was accessed through the computer keyboard or voice input. She was capable of performing a variety of services.
